When I arrived in Paris in 2017, I was told that exile is a social condition. It has always given me the desire to highlight stories that address this subject. After meeting exiled people, I realized that exile was more of a state of mind than anything else. Due to this, I wanted to meet migrants looking for a host country, obtaining papers, and becoming someone. I also met homeless people who live without goals or prospects. Meeting migrants made me realize that migrants' lives may change once they cross the sea, but homeless people are not endowed with oceans, goals, or even hopes.
HOPE compares migrants in Calais to homeless people in Paris. During my time in Calais, I felt welcome by the migrants, and photographing them was a way for them to be heard. Meeting homeless people in Paris was a challenging and confusing experience, as these individuals do not comprehend the message, hope is lost, and the photo is meaningless.
